Enable Kids Mode in Microsoft Edge: A User-Friendly Guide to Safe Browsing for Children

Safeguarding Young Users with Microsoft Edge's Kids Mode

In today’s digital age, ensuring a safe online environment for children has become paramount. Microsoft Edge, recognizing the importance of this, offers a dedicated ‘Kids Mode’ that provides a tailored browsing experience for the younger audience. This user-friendly guide aims to walk you through the process of enabling Kids Mode in Microsoft Edge, paving the way for a secure and age-appropriate browsing experience for your little ones. Whether you’re a tech-savvy parent or new to the digital realm, this guide will provide clear steps to help your child surf the web safely.

Setting up a Whitelist in Kids Mode

Before diving into the Kids Mode settings in Microsoft Edge, prioritizing safety is essential. One of the most effective ways to ensure this is by creating a whitelist of approved websites for your children. This allows them to explore the internet within the bounds of the sites you trust. Here’s a user-friendly guide to setting up that controlled browsing environment:-

Step 1. Initiate Microsoft Edge on your Windows 10 or 11 system. Locate the Edge browser symbol on your taskbar or simply use the Start menu’s search function.

Step 2. Type “edge://settings/family” in the Edge address bar and press Enter. This will take you to the Kids Mode settings page.

Step 3. On the Kids Mode settings page, locate and click on the “Manage allowed sites in Kids Mode” option. This will open up the website whitelist, where you can control the websites your child can access.

Step 4. To include a website in the whitelist, press the “Add website” button. Input the website’s URL you’d like your child to visit, and hit the Add button. Perform this action for any other desired websites. Kids Mode ensures only the listed sites are accessible, ensuring a secure browsing environment.
